What is more important than strategy?

Only one thing...

The results your strategy has to deliver.

Getting sidetracked

We have seen organisations become so focussed on implementing their strategy, they forget about the original results their strategy was designed to deliver.

We call this being activity focussed (rather than results focussed).

An example of this is, achieving Quality accreditation.

Company ABC decides that getting ISO accredited is an excellent way to improve their quality.  But at some stage, getting accredited gets elevated to the end result, and the original end result of improving quality is forgotten.  Company ABC company then celebrates its achievement of attaining accreditation, with no real analysis of the impact it has made on quality.

This is a clear example of where the strategy (accreditation) has become more important than the result (improved quality).  Sound familiar?

The only thing more important than your strategy, is the results your strategy has to deliver.

Staying focussed

It is essential that strategy is always kept in context - strategy is simply the way you have decided to achieve your business goals.

Therefore it is essential you continually assess:

  • how effectively is the strategy being implemented?
  • what effect is the strategy having on your desired results / goals?
  • is this strategy still the most effective strategy for your business?

Unique methodology

Activate has developed a practical results-based management framework that makes linking strategy to measurable results easy.  All our consulting services and training workshops utilise this method.   We have also taught this method for over 14 years through the workshops and training we provide through:
